Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (R.A)

Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) belongs to a noble family of Mecca. She was a trader by profession. She used to import and export goods from Mecca to other countries. At that time Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was also famous for his honesty and dignity to his work. People called him Al-Sadiq and Al-Amin. When Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) heard about his honesty and truthfulness she appointed him to sell her goods at Syria. Hazrat Muhammad Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam performed his duty with full devotion and made a huge profit.

The other companions who were with Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam at the time of trading told about the politeness and good behavior of Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam to Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha). Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) was so greatly pleased and impressed with Hazrat Muhammad Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam and offered her hand to marriage with Hazrat Muhammad Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam. Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam accepted her proposal. She was forty at the time of marriage and Hazrat Muhammad Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam was twenty five years old.

Her first husband was Abu-Hala and she had two daughters Hind and Hala from Abu-Hala. Her second husband was Atiq bin Makhzoomi and through him she had one daughter Hinda. Although it was her third marriage but also she had the privilege and blessing to become the first wife of Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam. They had six children; two sons and four daughters Abdullah bin Muhammed, Qasim bin Muhammed, Zainab (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) bintay Muhammed, Fatima (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) bintay Muhammed, Ruqayya (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) bintay Muhammed and Umme Kulsoom (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) bintay Muhammed. Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam and Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) proved to be an ideal husband and wife for the whole world.

Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) faced all the hardships with Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam when he announced himself as the prophet of Allah. She was the one who believed that Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam is the messenger of Allah and also she was the first lady who accepted Islam. When the behavior of Quraish was so brutal with Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam even then Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) encouraged Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam to continue his preaching of Islam. She spent all her money for the sake of Islam. Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam respected her a lot. He always used to say that Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) was the first lady who believed him when no one else had faith in him.

Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam did not merry again in the life of Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha). They were lived together for twenty five years. She was died at the 10th year of prophet-hood. Hazrat Muhammed Sal-Allah-O-Alaihe Wassallam was so deeply grieved because at the same year his beloved uncle Abu-Talib also died and therefore that year was called Aam-ul-Huzn (The year of grief). Indeed the life of Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (Razi Allah-Tala Anha) was an example for the whole Ummah and we have to learn the true Islamic way of life from her.
